May 14, 2008: Info on Freestyle/Greco Clinic: May 16 - 20, 2008 - Freestyle/ Greco Clinic in preperation for Southeastern Regionals. Head Clinicians: Barry Davis and Damir Zakhartdinov Coach Davis is the head coach at the University of Wisconsin. He was a Silver Medalist in the 1984 Olympics. Coach Davis was a 4x All-American and 3x NCAA Champion while wrestling for Dan Gable at Iowa. Damir Zakhartdinov from Uzbekistan was a 4th place finisher at the 2000 Olympics. Coach Zakhartdinov lost in the Bronze Medal match 3-2 to Terry Brands. Damir is a 3x Olympian. Other Clinicians: Terry Allison. Terry is currently ranked 8th on the United States Greco Olympic ladder. Rod Gaddy - Head Coach at Alabama Wrestling Club. Glenn Albarado - Head Coach of Alabaster Youth Wrestling Schedule Friday, May 16th - Registration from 4:30 to 5:30pm Clinic Starts at 5:30 to 7:30 pm at AYWA Warrior Wrestling Complex Saturday, May 17th - 9am till noon and 1 to 4pm at AYWA Warrior Wrestling Complex Sunday, May 18th - 2 to 4pm at Alabama Wrestling Club Monday, May 19th - 6 to 8pm at Alabama Wrestling Club Tuesday, May 20th - 6 to 8pm at Alabama Wrestling Club *See below for directions to the facilities. The cost for all 5 days of training is as follows: (all proceeds go to benefit Team Alabama) $25 if you are signed-up to wrestle at Southeast Regionals. $55 if you are not signed-up to attend the Southeast Regionals. 5 Days of Training with 2 different Olympians would normally cost you $300 or more. This great training opportunity is being offered exclusively by Team Alabama/USA Wrestling. On May 24th and 25th, USA Wrestling will host the Freestyle/Greco Southeast Regional Championships in Atlanta, GA. Team Alabama has taken around 50 wrestlers each of the past 4 years to this tournament. Our goal this year is 100 wrestlers. Join Team Alabama in representing our State in Atlanta!! |
April 14, 2008: CGC will be competing again this Saturday at the AAU tournament at Pinson High School. Weigh-ins will be from 7:00am to 8:00am, entry fee is $10 and AAU card is required to compete. Contact Coach Preston for details. |
April 13, 2008: Congrats to CGC Wrestler's who competed in the AAU Tournament in Hayden this past week. Logan Russon Placed third in the High School 140lb bracket. Ashton Jones and Wesley Boatwright both took first in their middle school divisions. |
